21 Hours Later...

I have never been overseas before, unless you count the short 5 hour trip to Hawaii for my family vaca two years ago. So I had no idea the confusion I would experience over the past 21 hours! We left Washington D.C. around 10 a.m. for Rome on Monday and we just arrived in Lusaka, Zambia. Keep in mind Lace and I had the genius idea to stay up ALL night Sunday in order to be on Zambia time and sleep throughout the plane rides (we thought this was smart at the time).
I believe the lack of sleep plus the two hours here and there on the plane added to the deliriousness of today’s trip. I am still trying to wrap my brain around the fact that today is Tuesday and its night time? Very weird…But hey! At least my sleeping patterns are now on track for my stay in Zambia!!

We were ALMOST successful at having a non- “situation” day with traveling, but of course something had to go wrong. Once we arrived in Lusaka and we were gathering our bags we soon discovered SEVEN did not make it with the rest and are still currently in Addis Ababa. Awesome. I admit I am bummed that I am missing one of my bags and it had to be the one with all the snacks (MY PEANUT BUTTER AND SALSA!) but my poor dear friend Lacey has neither of her two bags :( We are hoping to gather these missing bags tomorrow or the next day in Livingston.

On a brighter note, we are staying the night in Lusaka, Zambia at a swanky hotel, super pumped for sleeping in this bed tonight!


We ate an AHHH-mazing dinner at a place called Rhapsody, which is connected to the hotel, along with a lot of other shops and restaurants. This place has been a nice change from sitting in an airplane seat for 21 hours, but I am SUPER excited for our journey to Kolomo tomorrow where the Namiwanga mission is located. We are taking off around 9 a.m. in our 12 passenger bus for a quaint 6 hour drive :) Hopefully we will have our bags...stay tuned!
