"What time is it? It's FEEDING time!"

Today, we began our final week of therapy. Catherine, Meghann, and I are still in the same group but this week we are doing feeding/swallowing therapy with Caroline. We had a pretty busy morning at Haven 1 and 3. My sweet girl Sidney sat up for a whole minute on her own! She has come sooo far since she was hospitalized a couple of weeks ago.

Although feeding/swallowing therapy is tons of fun it can get a little messy at times...
Catherine decided she was going to feed Christi; such a big helper :) However, the food was all over poor Christi and Catherine too! But they were so darn cute trying!
Then Catherine decided she would pose with her spoon. If you look closely you can see the food everywhere but in her mouth.

At Haven 1 after we did our oral motor exercises/stretches we did feeding time around the table. We tried to get Darcie and Tegan to say "more", but instead we got arms flailing and whines/grunts for more food. Apparently sweet potato baby food is delish to these girls!

Bahaha! Oh Darcie, my girl is a bit of mess when it comes to eating. It may not look like it, but she did manage to actually get some of the food into her mouth!

Tomorrow we each got assigned a feeding/swallowing therapy session to "lead". I will be leading in the morning over at Haven 3 (Bennett, Sid, Shelby, Matt, Choolwe, Amanda, and Dennis). Basically, whoever the leader is will be responsible for guiding the rest of the group through the motions of feeding therapy. For example, we'll need to ensure each child receives their Beckman oral motor exercises, include "tummy time", and incorporate some language enrichment activities such as songs or stories. Fun times will be had I am sure!
